To search the span of the savannah to

Vultures circle high above
- the riverbed is red & dry
Something crackles in the bushes
- will I see the elephants eye?
Skins that shiver from stinging
- singing & the winging bird
Quick & flicking Lizard tongue
- light reveals the dusty herd
I feel it rise from deep inside
- my beating heart cannot deny
The mixed emotions that I feel as I
gaze into the elephant's eye
